In the early 90's, Gerard J. Puccio, Ph.D., professor of the International Centre for the Study of Creativity (Center for International Studies in Creativity-ICSC) began to study the correlation between individual behavior and preferences of creative problem solving. Over the next decade, Gerard J. Puccio has worked with a team of researchers to rigorously test and validate his theories. The result of these studies is the Profilo FourSight, a new tool to measure the preferences that individuals have the essential components of the creative process. Currently, Gerard J. Puccio is a Dean of the Department of Creative Studies at Buffalo State College, State University of New York (Department of Creativity Studies at SUNY College, Buffalo) and Director of the International Centre for the Study of Creativity, an institution that offers a Master of Science in creativity and Change Leadership. His research continues to shed light on the interaction between people and critical processes they use to practice creative thinking.
Diversification for a long-term success
Several psychological research shows that the difference in team performance increases. As a general rule, when you build a team that must work through and deal with complex challenges, include people who have different skills and different preferences FourSight. A blend of clarifiers, Designers, Developers and Implementers will be able to better manage the broad spectrum of the innovation process. Diversity will ensure a more balanced point of view and more energy to the wide variety of activities that the team will face.
Homogeneity for short-term results

However, if you build a team for a specific task, clear and for a short time, it may be desirable to match the preferences FourSight of the team to the task in question. For example, the leader of a team that is responsible for generating new product ideas, may select from among the most qualified candidates, the Inventors. The leader of a team responsible for carrying out a specific activity may instead facilitate the choice to implement.
